I'm simply thankful for experiencing life. Yesterday I spent some time on our deck taking in everything around me and marveling at how amazing our universe is.

Thirteen and a half years after the cancer diagnosis? Evie.

(One of our sweetest memories of those days is po's offer to send her Marinol brownies to help ameliorate the side effects of the chemo. Remember that?)

  2. by Donna on November 23, 2023 8:16 am

I vaguely remember that. I'm so happy for Evie's amazing recovery.

Here's to you and Evie celebrating another wonderful Thanksgiving together!! Any special plans today?

She's working so that a coworker can celebrate with family. I married waaaaaaay out of my league, as I'm sure you know.

  4. by Donna on November 23, 2023 8:25 am

That was so thoughtful of her!

  5. by Ponderer on November 23, 2023 8:28 am

Yeah, that's so great for you two, Bill.

I'm thankful for that too. 🥂

I’m thankful for my good health and my wife’s good health. We are both of an age in which friends and acquaintances are dying, or suffering with debilitating conditions. So we’re both fortunate. I’m also happy for my happy marriage at 43 years.

I’m also grateful for my circle of friends, who are mostly younger and help me to maintain my good health.

I'm thankful I was born intelligent enough to see thru the lies of the GOP and their marketing firm, Fox as well as being smart enough to never sign up for some stupid war for oil, cash or a now forgotten hill in Vietnam.

Sheesh Indy, does everything have to be political?

  9. by Indy! on November 24, 2023 6:11 pm

I do not remember there being any specified limitations on what we should feel thankful for, Donna. Maybe next time you can set down the rules in a clear and concise way before asking a question like that. In the meantime, I must point out my answer was at least more specific and appropriate than "sitting on the patio and being thankful my heart is still beating" (paraphrasing). It should probably be taken for granted that everyone is grateful for being alive, doncha think? 🙄

  10. by Donna on November 25, 2023 8:09 am

Actually I think that many, maybe even most people rarely if ever think about how privileged they are to be experiencing life.

  11. by Indy! on November 25, 2023 9:20 pm

    I would disagree.

Donna, everyone else included others in their comment. They're not so self-absorbed. That's what struck me.

I'm with curt, this past year was a bad one for my wife. She had several friends, one that had been a family friend her folks knew before she was born.

For me, with that are two grandkids down here that are a true kick to be around. It adds life (and major liveliness) around the house. They tire us out for sure. And every second is worth it.

po- that didn't mean that donna is self absorbed. It was a remark for her remark that you quoted. It was meant regarding indys post.

Sorry to confuse. It wasn't phrased real well.

  15. by Donna on November 26, 2023 8:19 am

Ponderer asked me to tell you she's sorry.

    All's good.

  16. by oldedude on November 26, 2023 8:33 am
No need from me, and appreciated. Thanks to both.

OD, it's comical when you pretend like you're some kind of sweet family guy when you spend half your posts here shitting on other people's families you never met and know absolutely nothing about. You can kiss my ass every day and twice on Sunday.

  18. by oldedude on November 26, 2023 6:22 pm
I just get tired of you being a passive aggressive little prick. You want to talk shit is fine. You're just too much of a snowflake to get the same back. If you can't play, just don't. And I'm not shitting on your family. I'm shitting on you. Personally.

  19. by Indy! on November 26, 2023 7:50 pm

You're not shitting on anyone accept yourself. You have no idea what me or my family are like and if you did you would need to switch to the extra large adult diapers.

I simply respond in-kind. It really is that easy. I saw where I had made an error in wording above and lead po to her post. I corrected it and apologized. Donna responded as a human being. Ergo, I'll respond to her as a human being. Everything is all good. No crass remarks.

I can be your best friend, or worst enemy. You get to choose. I'm much more apt to have a discussion with donna than you. There's a reason for that.

  21. by Indy! on November 27, 2023 12:02 pm

The only thing funnier than your family man facade is you believing you could somehow be my "enemy". That's your military brainwashing failing you again.

  22. by oldedude on November 27, 2023 6:59 pm
It's the difference between knowing the vast difference between good and evil. You're a sociopath. You don't care about other human beings. The same type of person that hangs infants up by the feet to bleed them out in the same way Sharia law says to slaughter cattle and lambs. And you would do it in front of their mothers to give them the maximum amount of pain before murder them.

And you would do it for fun. And mommie would be happy about your phone calls to her to report the number of infants you murdered. Daddy might even put his best dress on to celebrate.

  23. by Indy! on November 28, 2023 3:35 pm

You're the one always talking about raping or killing kids, OD - not me. We all know from our life experience that the people who claim to be the "protectors" and "concerned" about children being raped and/or killed are always the ones actually doing it behind the scenes. Sooooo... maybe you need to find yourself a priest and start confessing your sins before it's too late? 🤔

"The lady doth protest too much, methinks"🤔
No one else on the site brings that up. Maybe it's your mens rea popping through. 😲

Remember, "actus reus non facit reum nisi mens sit rea"

  25. by Indy! on November 29, 2023 11:49 am

You honestly believe that phrase HELPS your case? 😂
